Amida Buddha, Japan, Kamakura period (1185-1333) H. 66 cm. Lacquered and gilded wood The Buddha is standing, dressed in pleated monastic robes, his hands making the gesture of arguing. The face is serene, the eyes half-closed, the lips joined, the earlobes elongated, the headdress surmounted by the cranial protuberance is treated in small concentric loops, the urna inlaid with glass.
