Description
SÈVRES Pair of Clodion vases 3rd size of baluster form on hard paste pedestal, decorated with a garland of polychrome flowers roses, daffodils, hydrangeas, cornflowers, lilacs, ranunculus on a blue background. On the shoulder and the base, frieze of gold palms, two handles with scrolls with pendants, handles and gold nets on the neck and on the fall. The body rests on a corolla and the pedestal is set on a square gilt bronze frame. Marked under the bronze base with two interlaced L's and gilder's mark of Auguste Richard. 19th century, circa 1834 (Slight wear to the gold.) Total height : 25 cm Cf. the shape of this vase was created in the 18th century. The decoration was painted in the Paris workshop, the painting of the flowers was done by Jean-Joseph Fontaine.
