Myōjin 明神
Myōjin is the representation of flight. The extension of the seat and back of the Atelier chair form two curved wings. Their combination with the verticality of the legs is reminiscent of the structure of Japanese Torii doors. Literally meaning "the home of birds", these immutable gates located at the entrance to Shinto shrines symbolize the transition from the physical world to the spiritual space. The addition of constructive elements and black ends directly reference their design, while reinforcing the images of craftsmanship and levitation respectively.
