"Christ and the Samaritan woman", late 18th century- pps. XIX. Hand-illuminated etching. Based on a painting by ANIBALE CARRACCI (Bologna, 1560 - Rome, 1609). Located in Rome. It presents wrinkles, folds, humidity stains. Measurements: 48 x 39 cm (print); 60 x 50 cm (passpartout). Also entitled "The Woman at the Well", the model used by the engraver for this plate was the painting by Anibale Carracci, one version of which is in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. It was part of a set or cycle of works depicting Gospel scenes of Christ meeting women, the other two being Christ and the Canaanite Woman by Ludovico Carracci and Christ and the Woman Caught in Adultery by Agostino Carracci.
