IMPORTANT ROYAL THRONE NGOMBE Democratic Republic of Congo This backrest throne is of an ancient type commonly found along the Congo River. The seat and the feet are decorated with nails on the whole surface. Remarkable by its work of nailing and wood burelage this trone has a very nice patina of use. The "upholsterer's nail", called "inkwambani", became a fashion in the 1880s and spread to the Upper Congo.
