RECTANGULAR PIECE OF FURNITURE OF TOILET IN MAHOGANY AND MAHOGANY VENEER. The uprights in sheath decorated with heads of women wearing braids in patinated bronze and palmettes in gilt bronze. It opens with five drawers, the upper drawer with two compartments. Stamped CHAPUIS First third of the XIXth century. It was surmounted by a rectangular pivoting mirror held by sheath uprights with heads of women wearing a nemesis, palmettes and crowns of forget-me-nots pierced with an arrow. The mirror slides on two brass rails. (Restorations, cracks). H : 164 cm - W : 65 cm - D : 54 cm The cabinetmaker Jean-Joseph CHAPUIS (1765 - 1864), obtained his master's degree in Paris before moving to Brussels, his native city. He provides furniture for the palace of Laeken. His workshop was active until 1830.
