DAVID RICHTER (attr. A)
(Stockholm, 1664 - 1741)
Portrait of a gentlewoman
Oil on copper, 7X5.3 cm
The portrait bears an attribution to Swedish painter Richter, older brother of the better-known Christian. The artist was a pupil of Martin Van Mijtens the Elder and was active in Denmark and Italy, where he is presumed to have begun to devote himself to making small portraits.
