Attributed to Louis Bertin-Parant (Mers, 1768 - Paris, 1851) Portraits of men in profile painted in the cameo style Pair of paintings, mixed technique in oil on paper 14,5 x 11 cm Inscription in pencil on the back: Louis Bertin Parant In their original gilded frames with rais-de-coeur (Slight cracks in the background) Early 19th century Originally from the Indre region, Louis Bertin-Parant moved to Paris around 1800 and exhibited at the Salon until 1834. He specialized in small portraits in the manner of antique cameos, often painted on ivory or porcelain. His imitations of fine stones engraved in relief, such as agate, sardony or carnelian, earned him a high reputation as a trompe-l'oeil painter, as well as medals at the 1806 and 1808 Salons. He also worked for the Manufacture de Sèvres.
