Louis Dejean (1872-1953) Torso of a woman Bronze with black patina Signed " Louis Dejean " and dedicated " to my friend Deshairs " * on the base On the back, the founder's mark " Alexis RUDIER. Founder. Paris " H. 95 cm. Self-taught, Louis Dejean was successful at the turn of the century with terracotta statuettes of graceful young women, captured in their daily activities and dressed according to the fashion of Paris at the time. He then turned to more academic subjects, and his style reinterpreted ancient Greco-Roman art, according to the ideas defended by the "Bande à Schnegg", a group of sculptors active during the first decade of the 20th century. * Léon Deshairs (1874-1967) was an art historian and curator of the Bibliothèque des Arts Décoratifs.
