The imaginary catalog is a "Real-fake" catalog realized by Dupuis in 1985 with "real-fake" covers of books they will never publish and unpublished realizations of some of their greatest authors. Willy Maltaite alias Will (1927-2000) is a Belgian cartoonist and scriptwriter and painter, representative of the Marcinelle school. From his youngest age, Willy Maltaite draws. In the early 1940s, he began an apprenticeship with Joseph Gillain (Jijé), one of the pillars of Spirou, who would become his friend. He was then only 15 years old! "I learned my trade with him, but he first gave me the ABC of drawing. I didn't know anything at all and he showed me how to see right. Plus, he was an all-around guy, he did woodcutting as well as carving and painting. I did everything with him, without making comics, until I was 20 years old2 ". In 1946, Jijé, in addition to Will, took in Morris and Franquin, two young authors who were still little known but whose strong potential Gillain had been able to detect. Will realized first of all cartoons and illustrations published in Bonnes soirées and Le Moustique. When Jijé left for the United States, Will produced his first comic strip in 30 panels: Le Mystère de Bambochal. Charles Dupuis, although he refused him several projects, entrusted him with the destiny of the series Tif et Tondu, which he animated, alongside Fernand Dineur, Maurice Rosy, the inventor of Monsieur Choc, Maurice Tillieux and Stephen Desberg, from 1957 to 1990. In 1957 he helped Franquin with the decorations for the album Pirates of Silence and in 1958 he interrupted the Tif et Tondu series and became artistic director of the Tintin newspaper for two years. From 1966 to 1969, Will directed the Carrousel collection at Dupuis, which consisted of using heroes from the Spirou newspaper, such as the Smurfs or Boule et Bill, in small Italian-style illustrated albums for children. In 1970, he launched a new series: Isabelle, on scenarios written by Yvan Delporte, Raymond Macherot and Franquin, which will count twelve albums from 1970 to 1996. From 1988, Will changes his register, turning to a drawing where the color plays a greater importance. With Stephen Desberg at the scenario, Will produces, in direct colors, Le Jardin des désirs and La 27e lettre for the collection Aire Libre, then L'Appel de l'enfer for PT Production. Unfortunately, he died in 2000 without having finished L'Arbre des deux printemps, based on a script by Rudi Miel. Spirou pays him a big tribute of eight pages in the issue 3231. The municipality of La Hulpe realizes a statue of Monsieur Choc on a traffic circle of the avenue Reine Astrid.
