Paris [17th-18th c.] Plates mark ± 50 x 70 cm, enhanced with watercolour (marg. tears on ± 6 cm on 2 pl. affecting the plate but without loss, some paper reinforcment on versos). 1. Peyrousin, A. [after L. Alègre le fils] - Iev chronologiqve utile pour apprendre la suitte des siecles et ce qui est arriué de plus remarquable en chascun [...].Pierre Mariette et G. Le Juge, [ca. 1638]. "This game is the oldest dated French game known to us" (Poirier). Spiral of 57 spaces, from Adam to Louis XIV. Each space represents a century, with a small text. In the center the rules of the game; bottom right, the dedication by Alègre, probably the designer, to Baron de Montpaou, with his coat of arms. Ref.
