A CASED 100 BORE SIX-SHOT ~SELF ACTING~ PERCUSSION PEPPERBOX PISTOL, BY SANDERS, LEICESTER, BIRMINGHAM PROOF MARKS, NO 325, CIRCA 1840-7, with fluted barrel group, brass action extending to form a nipple shield at the front, engraved with foliate scrolls and with the inscription ~By Royal letters patent Sander~s Leicester~ on the left and ~Self Acting pistol~ on the right, engraved bar hammer, scroll-engraved serial numbered back-strap, polished walnut grips and engraved brass trigger-guard: in an associated mahogany case lined in green baize, with accessories including copper powder-flask, bullet mould and loading rod, 8.0 cm barrels¦¦Joseph Sanders is recorded at Belgrave Gate, Leicester, 1832-47.
