Description

CHINA, late Qing dynasty, circa 1900. Lot including: a vase on a flared and fluted heel decorated with a rider in full race (polychrome enamelled porcelain, Height: 15,5 cm). Two teapots in polychrome enamelled porcelain with a decoration of literates. One in the form of a melon has a metal handle turned, (Height: 9.7 cm, faded gilding). The second represents a double gourd (Height: 16.5 cm, faded gilding, missing at the edge of the lid). A vintage porcelain bowl covered with woven bamboo is attached. A geisha face adorns the interior (Diameter: 6 cm, Height: 2.5cm). Provenance: Brought back by Captain Joachim Léonce Bassery of the 10th regiment of the line infantry after the Palikao campaign in 1860, then kept by descent. Source: Order of battle of the French army during the 2nd opium war or the 1860 expedition.
