LA MOTTE-PICQUET, Toussaint-Guillaume, comte Picquet de La Motte dit (1720-1791), one of the most famous French sailors. P.A. S.l., circa August 15, 1768. 3 pp. in-4. Small paper restoration with loss of a word. Scratches and corrections. Very interesting list of about 42 names of seasoned sailors, hastily written by La Motte-Picquet, entitled "Liste du remplacement fait par sa Majesté le 15 aoust 1768". It records the names of the lieutenants and captains of ships, ensigns and guards of the Navy, almost all of them aristocrats: Poulin de Courval, Baudan de Bois-Laurent, de Kersauson de Goasmelquin, de Manrville, Brizard, d'Orléans, D'Isle de La Motte, Fontenay Saint Aubin, etc. A note in pencil specifies the provenance of the document: Gueguen sale, May 11, 1927, "extremely rare".
