Jijé, as we know, was the leader of a whole generation of artists known as the Marcinelle (or Charleroi) School, pillar of the Journal de Spirou, among whom Will, Morris, Franquin... The Jerry Spring series was THE western of the Journal de Spirou, realized by an author who had looked closely at the great masters of American comics and who had retained their codes. This solid draftsman trained in academic drawing adds another asset to these first qualities: the American landscapes, the horses, the ranches, he knows them, he lived several years in Connecticut.
