Here two very different universes follow one another. On the one hand, the open sea, dangerous and hostile, where the Medusa is tossed about by the swell and the wind. The black mass of the breaking waves reinforces the violence of the elements and structures the page. Then, as if in appeasement after this unleashing, the calm of the Goulet and the city of Brest where the frigate L'Épervier finally arrives at the end of its long crossing. The close-up shots in the insert not only serve the story but accentuate the immensity of the scenery. A marine sequence as I like to make them.
