In 1976, Hervé Croze, a young reader, writes tales featuring Spip the squirrel and sends them to the editorial staff of Journal de Spirou. Seduced by these stories, Thierry Martens, the editor in chief, asks Jean-Claude Fournier to put them in pictures. This original "Memories of Spip" illustrates Le Sourire du Tolèque, a tale published in the Journal de Spirou n° 1973 of February 5, 1976.
