Description

Pavilion of the creations of the company BELLOIR at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1867. Large photographic print on albumen paper, mounted on cardboard, signature in ink under the print on the right and stamp under the print on the left " Jen Belloir & Cie, Tapisserie, ébénisterie, décoration, 56 rue de la Victoire ", circa 1867, dimensions 30 x 24,7 cm. The Belloir family company, founded around 1820, met with enormous success over the decades and especially from the second half of the 20th century, thanks to societal changes and developments in the way people decorated their homes. The importance of these "upholsterers decorators" was considerable. Thanks to the stamp present on our proof we know that we are between 1864 (date of appearance of the name "Julien Belloir et Cie" at the mentioned address) and 1874 (date of the association Belloir/Vazelle). In all likelihood we are in the presence of a print taken during the Paris World's Fair of 1867 where it is known that the company carried out several decoration works.
