After Auguste Galimard (1813-1880): The Seduction of Leda, 1855 Salon. Photographic print on albumen paper from a collodion glass negative, mounted on cardboard in a gilded octagonal mount, signed in ink on the mount in the lower left corner of the print "Ate Galimard" with the addition of a long text in ink below "Photograph executed after the original painting, The Seduction of Leda, Purchased by Emperor Napoleon III, Salon of 1857, And given to the King of Wurtemberg, The plate of this photograph is broken, there are only 6 proofs", 1857, size 16,4 x 25 cm, very nice condition. Very rare print signed by the artist which traces the history of this photographic print and the canvas. The latter, judged to be very erotic, caused a scandal at the 1855 Universal Exhibition in Paris. The Emperor Napoleon III bought it at the 1857 Salon, then offered it to the Duke of Wurtemberg. The work is realized in an octagon voluntarily defined by the artist.
