TOUSSAINT (Franz). The Garden of caresses. Paris, Piazza, 1914. In-4, blue morocco, gilt framed with 8 fillets with corner fleurons, semis of stylized gilt flowers, ornate ribbed spine, lining of havana morocco richly mosaiced with light and dark blue arabesques and gilt arabesques, blue moire endpapers, double marbled paper endpapers, cover and spine cons. gilt edges, slipcase (Mercier fils, 1921). 20 hors texte compositions in colors, under printed serpents, by Léon Carré. One of the 25 first copies on japan (n°22) containing an original watercolor by Léon Carré, signed and dated 1914, representing a beautiful oriental woman on cushions (not reproduced in the book); 2 states in color of the engravings on japan, one before the letter and before the ornamental framing; one state in black on vellum, with frames. There is also the prospectus of the book, an invitation for the exhibition of the watercolors at the Piazza bookstore. A very nice copy, from the Descamps-Scrive library, with bookplate (1925, vol. III, 327). Minor foxing. Spine very slightly darkened.
