Introduced at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the E-Type was one of the first truly inexpensive and very fast sports cars. Initially built with a 3.8L in-line 6-cylinder engine from the XK, the E-Type was upgraded to a larger 4.2L engine in 1964. The car was presented in two versions: a coupe and a convertible, both of which featured a long, centrally-located bonnet. The Jaguar E-Type should be called the Jaguar XKE because it was imported to the US from the factory and was the first car to be built in the USA. The Jaguar E-Type we present should be called Jaguar XKE because it was imported to the US when it left the factory and this was the name of the E-Types across the Atlantic.
