The offered portrait is a high-quality copy, possibly even a workshop work after Antonis van Dyck's "Portrait of Margaret, Lady Tufton" (Barnes/De Poorter/Millar/Vey 2004, no. IV.A36). The sitter was the granddaughter of Baron Edward Wotton, a diplomat at the court of Queen Elizabeth I. Van Dyck's painting is now held in the collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
