Description

France, Second Empire (1852-1870). Cuirassier troop helmet model 1858, composite. White polished steel bomb with gutter, apocryphal marking on the back, steel visor and neck cover lined with modern basanes, green for the visor and black for the nape of the neck and bordered on the perimeter by a brass ring. The bomb, the turban and the visor and nape are reproductions. Turban covered with a navy cow headband, stylish and later. Stamped brass crest, the mask stamped with a flaming bomb surmounted by a medusa head with above a crown of laurel and oak branches and the fins stamped with eight gadroons of decreasing shape, highlighted with pearls and framed with acanthus leaves and palmettes, the "rain screen" protecting the top of the crest of a decoration depicting a braided mane. The eaglet holder is present, the mane puff is absent. The mane is missing. The brass plume holder with foliage decoration on the left side of the bomb is present (original, reported). Pair of chinstraps model 1858 with decreasing rings mounted on black leather chinstraps complete with their rosettes stamped with laurel leaves. Black leather inner cap with wolf teeth, later (modern remanufacture). 33 cm (without the holder).
