France, Second Empire (1852-1870). Officer's helmet Dragon model 1858. Gilded copper gutter bomb with gutter, visor and brass neck cover lined with modern basanes, green for the visor and black for the nape of the neck and edged around the perimeter with a brass ruffle. The leather turban of the bomb is a modern re-fabrication). Turban covered with a band of panther skin, style and later. Embossed gilt brass crest, the mask stamped with a flaming bomb surmounted by a medusa head with above a wreath of laurel and oak branches, the fins embossed with eight gadroons of decreasing shape, highlighted with pearls and framed with acanthus leaves and palmettes, the "rain screen" protecting the top of the crest of a decoration depicting a braided mane. Eagle-holder with black mane puff. Mane of black hair with an effective length of about 55 cm. The brass pen holder with foliage frieze decoration on the left side of the bomb is present (original, reported). Pair of 1858 model chinstraps for Officer, in gilded brass and with decreasing chased rings, mounted on black leather chinstraps covered with fine black cloth, complete with their rosettes stamped with laurel leaves (the chinstraps are later re-fabrications). Inner cap of black leather with wolf teeth, later (modern re-fabrication). 30 cm (without the holder). (composite helmet, restored in the past, good condition).
