Description

France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848). Helmet of Dragon troop model 1840-44. Brass minerva-shaped helmet with gutter, on the back marked "DELACHAUSSEE" and stamped "9621" and "55" for the head and stamped ".L." in an oval. Brass visor and helmet cover lined with green basane for the visor and black for the helmet cover (the basane of the visor is missing, the underside repainted formerly green) and bordered on the perimeter of a brass ring, the rear ring is stamped (illegible). Turban covered with a band of navy cow (later, style) laced on the back with four pairs of metal eyelets. Crest in stamped brass, the mask stamped with a flaming bomb surmounted by a medusa head with above a crown of laurel and oak branches and the fins stamped with eight gadroons of decreasing shape, highlighted with pearls and framed with acanthus leaves and palmettes, the "rain screen" protecting the top of the crest of a decoration featuring a braided mane is present. The eaglet holder is present, the black mane puff is absent. Absent mane. The brass plume holder with foliage decoration on the left side of the bomb is present (reported). Pair of chinstraps with brass curb chains in the shape of "8" interlaced mounted on black leather chinstraps and their rosettes with radiating brass center (pair of composite chinstraps and the later rosettes, well reconstructed). Brown waxed leather inner headpiece, incomplete. 31 cm (without the holder). (many shocks on the bomb, helmet restored early with some later elements well reconstructed, the majority of screws later and not to the model, in the state).
