France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848). Officer's helmet Dragon model 1840-44. Gilded brass minerva-shaped helmet (remains of gilding) and with gutter. On the back, presence of an illegible punch. Visor and helmet cover in brass lined with basanes, green for the visor and black for the helmet cover, bordered on the perimeter of a brass ring, the rear ring is stamped "Recuis". Turban covered with a marine cowhide band (very worn), laced on the back with four pairs of metal eyelets (missing, too short on the visor). Crest in gilded brass, the mask stamped with a flaming bomb topped by a medusa head with, above, a crown of laurel and oak branches (presence of a hole filled with tin at the level of the laurel branches which denotes a reuse among firefighters) and the fins stamped with eight gadroons of decreasing shape, The "rain screen" protects the top of the crest of a decoration showing a braided mane. The eaglet holder with black mane puff. The gilded brass plume holder with foliage frieze decoration on the left side of the bomb is present. Pair of chinstraps with brass curb chains in the form of "8" interlaced mounted on black leather chinstraps and their rosettes with radiating brass center. Inside leather cap cut in wolf teeth. 31 cm (without the aigrette holder). (mane missing, helmet in its juice, headband restored, good condition).
