Description

France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848). Helmet of Cuirassier troop model 1845. Minerva-shaped steel helmet with gutter, burnished with traces of oxidation (holes filled with putty and then patinated), the rear without mark or punch. Visor and helmet cover in steel lined with green basanes (later basanes) and bordered on the perimeter of a brass ring. Turban covered with a band of marine cow (later, style) laced on the back with five pairs of metal eyelets. Stamped brass crest, the mask stamped with a flaming bomb surmounted by a medusa head with above a crown of laurel and oak branches and the fins stamped with eight gadroons of decreasing shape, underlined with pearls and framed with acanthus leaves and palmettes, the "rain screen" protecting the top of the crest with a decoration featuring a braided mane (partly disassembled from the crest). Badge holder in brass without puff. Pair of brass chinstraps in the shape of intertwined "8", composite and later. Brown leather inner cap (later and in style, the inside of the bomb has been repainted in gray). 33 cm (without the egret holder). (mane and crest holder missing, helmet restored in the past, in the state).
