Description

France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848). Helmet of Cuirassier troop model 1830-45. Oxidized steel minerva-shaped helmet with small dents, stamped 6226 on the back, visor and helmet cover in steel plate lined with basanes (later basanes reconstituted) and edged around the edge of a brass ring. The interior of the bomb repainted in old black. Band of brass embossed with a flaming bomb framed with branches of laurel and oak. Crest (from the 1845 model) in stamped brass, the mask stamped with a flaming bomb surmounted by a medusa head with a crown of laurel and oak branches above, and the fins stamped with eight gadroons of decreasing shape, highlighted with pearls and framed with acanthus leaves and palmettes, the "rain screen" stamped with a decoration depicting a braided mane, protecting the top of the crest is present. The eaglet holder is present, the hair puff is absent. The brass pencil holder on the left side of the bomb is present. The helmet is equipped with a pair of chinstraps with copper curb chains in the form of intertwined "8" resting on brown leather chinstraps (later leather chinstraps, style) and their rosettes with radiating brass center. Inner leather cap later (reconstituted, of style). 29.5 cm (without the chenille). (helmet restored early, some elements of which are reported and reconstituted, some screws missing and of style, traces of two additional holes drilled at the base of the crest and on each fin, mane missing, in the state).
