France, Restoration (1814-1830). Helmet of the National Guard on horseback model 1814. Minerva-shaped helmet in two parts and made of black patent leather (with small shocks), all trimmings in silver-plated copper. Varnished black leather visor bordered by a silver plated copper ring (reported), the inner face repainted in green later. Black patent leather neck cover with missing (the end repaired formerly). Crest with two fins embossed with a series of nine gadroons decreasing towards the back, separated by acanthus leaves and bordered on the front and lower part of a molding of oak leaves and laurel, the mask decorated at the bottom of two crossed palms, the hook to maintain the chinstraps raised is missing. Black hair caterpillar, reported (caterpillar of fireman's helmet, old). Headband with a central motif showing an oval with a fleur-de-lys in the center, topped by the royal crown, and framed on each side by a palm, an oak branch and laurel. The back of the band is decorated with oak branches. Square section silver plated brass pen holder. Pair of brass scale chinstraps mounted on leather, style and reconstituted, the original rosettes to the model in silvered copper, with the radiant sun bearing in the center a golden fleur de lys. 30 cm (with the crest without the chenille).
