Cuirassiers officer's outfit model 1874: Helmet, silver plated copper bomb, crest, gilded brass headband, red horsehair marmoset, gilded brass laurel leaf scale chinstraps, screw bosses decorated with a flower, red plume; helmet cover and visor covered inside with leather, black wolf's tooth basane cap, gilded to the irons; very large black mane, probably changed. Ice-polished forged steel breastplate, breastplate and backplate, black lacquered interior; it is marked: "Manufre de Châtellerault August 1871 1st size extra width"; black leather straps with two gilt chains, repoussé patelettes with laurel decoration, also gilt, black leather belt; one of the straps bears a knight's cross of the order of the Legion of Honor; it is equipped with buttoned padding, in beige cloth, red cloth padding. (Leather of the straps changed as well as one side of the belt). Third Republic period. Good condition.
