Description
"Claude Louis BERTHOLLET (Talloires 1748-1822). Berthollet is, after Lavoisier, the most important French chemist of the late 18th century. He was both a theorist and a practitioner. We owe him works on bleaching (discovery of bleach) and on dyeing. Set of 2 autograph letters signed. The first addressed to Dr. Larrey, July 30, 1811 (1 page in-8), and the second addressed to Mr. Vée, June 14, 1809 (1 page in-8 with address and postmark) to which is attached a curious document: it is a sheet of paper stamped at the Seine registration office on June 19, 1809 for attestation and on which Berthollet wrote ""paper whose writing resists the action of oxidized muriatic acid"".
