Size: 40.5 x 55 cm; 54.5 x 69 cm (frame). Federico Bermúdez Gil was one of the most outstanding landscape painters of Malaga, especially remembered for his luminous palette and the quality of his rural subjects, in which he immortalised the Andalusian landscape and its most emblematic places, such as the Alcazaba of Malaga. His numerous awards include an honourable mention at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts of 1892, a silver medal at the Regional Exhibition of 1893 and third medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts of 1897. He was a professor and director of the School of Fine Arts and Crafts in Malaga, a member of the Royal Academy of San Fernando and San Telmo, a favourite son of the city of Malaga, Knight of the Royal Order of Alfonso X the Wise, the Vatican gold medal and the gold medal of Valencia.
