Description

Oval verdite case mounted in 18K (750°/00) gold. Opening by a motif decorated with a malachite cabochon. French work 1920-1930. Hallmark : Strauss Allard et Mayer. 8.5 x 5.5 x 1.3 cm. PB. 76.26 g (Very slight chips) The house of Strauss Allard et Mayer (hallmark 1919-1941) is less known than some of its sponsors, such as Cartier, Van Cleef Arpels, Lacloche... However, the association of these three talents is at the origin of creations of boxes, cigarette cases, kits or mounted objects as ingenious as delicate combining hard stones, enamel and other precious materials. As for verdite, it is a soft green stone, a variety of fuschite found in South Africa. The beauty of this stone appears by projecting a beam of light inside the case, revealing large moving areas more or less translucent. Expert : Anne Pellerin
