SCAGLIOLA TRAY in marble of rectangular form, it is decorated in scagliola of a "chinoisante" scene representing a hunting scene with riders pursuing deer and boars. End of 18th century. Height : 99,5 cm - Width : 49,5 cm Scagliola is a technique based on selenite, animal glue and natural pigments to imitate the marquetry of hard stones. This art of imitation is already employed during the whole period of the Antiquity, it makes its reappearance towards 1500 and reaches its apogee at the beginning of the XVIIIth century.
