A dent in the centre area which has been restored. During restoration, a reinforcement was placed on the reverse of the canvas (approx. 6.5 cm). Underneath the in relief, a damaged line can be observed including some loss of paint (approx. 8 cm). Just underneath the part in relief, a crack can be observed which might have been caused by the movement of the canvas or the ageing of the Polyvinyl acetate adhesive. Lastly, the paper glued onto the canvas exists of several different sheets of paper. A vertical line can be observed on the left 1/3 in which different sheets of paper meet. The borders of these sheets might have been retouched to be glued onto to the canvas. It is not sure whether the glue which causes a light shine was added before the painting of the canvas, or afterwards.
