At the age of twenty, Pierre Bergé met the painter Bernard Buffet and became his companion and accompanied his career for eight years. The two men met in a café on the Rue de Seine and had a passionate love affair until Pierre Bergé left for Saint Laurent. In 1958, Pierre Bergé met Yves Saint Laurent in Parisian outings.
