Jan de Beyer left more than 1500 drawings of cities and buildings, 600 of which were published in engravings and publications. In the summer he travelled through the Netherlands, Germany and present-day Belgium. In the winter he worked in his studio on the sketches he had brought back from his travels. His drawings were also used as a basis for many works of other artists.
