CAMILLE HILAIRE (1916-2004)

Menton, 1994 Color lithograph on paper, signed in pencil at the bottom right and justified E.A. for Epreuve d'Artiste 18/35. Dimensions : 46,5 x 32,5 cm at sight Between post-cubism and figuration, his works with bright colors, are luminous. Camille Hilaire represents the nuanced expression of the composition. Thus, starting from effective structures, he holds the power through color and obtains an admirable and constant sensation of calm, of magnitude, of grandeur by translating the motives and the elements, which never prevents him from expressing a burning passion of creation and sharing. Remarkable are her nudes with perfect curves, coiled with charm and placed in an environment where their sensual fullness imposes itself in provocative grace. As for the landscapes, Camille Hilaire knows how to dictate their structure without apparent constraint, depositing in them this fresh and piquant green that often characterizes him. Thus, nature and elements become a pretext where the artist pushes the color until obtaining the effect felt. As for the tapestries, all of his graphic design skills and his desire to research are combined in splendid works that constantly appeal to the eye thanks to their technical success of pure harmony and that represent the artist just as well as his lithographs, of an astonishing outcome.
