French painter born in Strasbourg and died in Barbizon, student of Léon Bonnat and Antoine Grison, Géo Weiss painted mainly portraits, landscapes and still lifes.
He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1880 and exhibited regularly at the Salon des artistes français. Founder of the Salon d'Automne of which he became the treasurer, some of his paintings were inspired by Ernest Meissonier, and were also close to the tradition of certain Swiss or Alsatian painters, such as Gustave Brion.
