Giacomo CAMPI (1846-1921)

Young woman with a parakeet Watercolor on paper signed in the lower left corner. Size : 37 x 17 cm Italian painter born in Milan, he began his studies under the direction of Professor Gandolfi before joining the Academy of Carrara in Bergamo under the direction of Scuri. He then worked in Rome and at the Roman College of the Vatican with Francesco Posdesti before moving to Milan where he opened his studio. His paintings can be found today in many residences such as the Villa Bagatti-Valsecchi in Milan, in the Arnaboldi house in Carimate, in the house of Duke Melzi d'Eril or of the Prince of Castelbarco in Saint-Moritz.
