PARIS | TURGOT, Michel-Etienne Plan of Paris begun in 1734, drawn and engraved on the orders of Messire Michel-Etienne Turgot, Marquis de Sousmons, Seigneur de St-Germain-sur-Eaulne... finished engraving in 1739. Surveyed and drawn by Louis Bretz, engraved by Claude and written by Aubin S.l., completed engraving 1739. In-folio, full marbled calf with the arms of the City of Paris on both covers. Framed with fleur-de-lys, fleur-de-lys at the corners, spine decorated with fleur-de-lys, stars and gilt fillets, decorated edges, inner fleur-de-lys border, gilt edges. Heads restored. Small incidents. The title page of the 2nd plate is blank. Copy consisting of an assembly plan and 20 double-page engraved plates. "It was proposed in having this plan engraved to show at a glance all the buildings and streets that it contains" warns the publisher. Cohen 807.
