The first part of the book is an introduction to the birds of Germany and some foreign birds, with their natural colors, from his Vogel-Cabinet, which he has collected for many years, in order to improve the illustrations that have come out of it so far. 12 parts in 1 volume (without suppl.). Berlin, bey des auctoris Sohn, [1733-1746]. Folio. (36x25,5 cm). With 225 altcol. Copperplates by F. H. Frisch. A total of 66 leaves of text explaining the plates (missing text for the 12th grade), 13 leaves of intertitles. Contemporary calf with gilt spine and heraldic supralibro. (Somewhat faded, small signs of age). - Missing from the 12th class the last section with plates 224- 241, as well as plate 221. - Partly minimally foxed and browned, a few pp. with restored or backed tears, overall very good condition. "Its outstanding importance lies in the fact that he based it throughout on his own observations, as they provided him in addition to his wanderings a richly stocked aviary.
