First German edition, rare. - On the various "tools for medical electricity, their application, experiments with the sick, etc.". - Among the illustrations "The electric bath". "Here the patient, who is in an insulated chair, or in certain cases in an electric, i.e. insulated, bed, is brought into conductive connection with the conductor of the machine; as long as the machine is kept in action, which usually lasts 1/4 to 1 hour, the patient is charged without subjectively perceiving anything special than, for instance, a slight bristling of the hair. An 'electric atmosphere' is created around him, the strength of which is measured by the deflection of a bead electrometer. The electric bath was applied as a positive and as a negative charge" (A. Schmid, p. 103 and Fig. 14). - Somewhat foxed and browned.
