The text, attributed to Sieur de la Rivière, was popularized by the Bibliothèque bleue, and went through multiple editions during the 18th c. The earliest dates from 1719, though it is likely that the story may have appeared in Nicolas Oudot's catalog as early as 1665./ Set of 3 brochures.
