GUICCIARDINI (Lodovico). Belgicae, sive Inferioris Germaniae, descriptio. Editio postrema. Lodovico Guicciardini Florence (1521-1589) was an Italian historian, geographer, mathematician, from a family of Florentine writers and merchants, who lived mainly in Antwerp. His most famous work, written in Italian, is the "Descrittione di Lodovico Guicciardini patritio fiorentino di tutti i Paesi Bassi altrimenti detti Germania inferiore". This work, which contains a wealth of information on the history of the Netherlands, the arts and includes maps of the main cities by leading engravers, was translated into Latin. Particularly rare edition. No copies in France, worldcat reports two copies preserved in Germany (the first few leaves are missing from the copy digitized at the Digitalisierungs Zentrum in Munich).
