Jean PIAUBERT (1900-2002) Palingenesis I Mixed media on canvas Signed lower right, titled and dated 1965 on a label removed from the frame Black lacquered wood frame Size with the frame : 196 x 98 cm. 77,17 x 38,58 in. A copy of the purchase invoice will be provided to the buyer Lifts of material, cracks including important cracks on the central cross, slight deformation to the canvas due to the weight of sand. Lack of paint and accidents to the frame Jean PIAUBERT (1900-2002) is a French artist and painter. He practiced painting, sculpture, engraving, lithography, illustration and also tapestry and theater decor. His work is marked by the relationship to the earth and nature. In 1918, Jean PIAUBERT studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux. He then moved to Paris in 1922 and completed his training in the workshops of Montparnasse, notably at the Grande Chaumière. He then discovered abstraction through contact with Russian avant-garde artists. From 1961, the painter integrates sand into his compositions. Jean PIAUBERT is thus a major painter of French abstraction.
