RARE PLATE IN SÈVRES PORCELAIN FROM THE "SERVICE AGRONOMIQUE With polychrome decoration in the center of the basin of a lively outdoor scene, captioned in gold at the bottom "Inn on a fair day", with a crowd of characters, children and animals in front of an inn in a village, monogrammed at the bottom right "A.M." (Adolphe Moriot), surrounded by a frieze of alternating circular patterns in gold standing out on a beautiful blue background, the marli decorated with a frieze of palmettes and braids in gold standing out on an agate blue background. Good general condition, very slight wear to the blue background and gold. Royal Manufacture of Sevres, 1844. Mark with the blue stamp with the figure of the king Louis-Philippe dated 1844, mark of the painter Adolphe Moriot (active in Sèvres 1837-1844) and the gilder probably Alexandre David (active in Sèvres 1844-1882). D. 24 cm. Provenance The magnificent service called "agronomic" is described in the archives of the Manufacture de Sèvres "agate blue background, blue zone, frieze of gold palmettes, figures representing agronomic scenes etc.". It was presented at the Exhibition of the Products of Industry in the Louvre on December 27, 1832 under the n°25, then on May 1, 1835 under the n°20, and entered the store of sale of Sevres on October 18, 1834. It was bought on credit by Prince Ferdinand-Philippe d'Orléans, Duke of Orléans (1810-1842), eldest son of King Louis-Philippe, in December 1837 (Arch. Sèvres, Vbb9, 72). This complete dessert service included several pieces of shapes and was originally composed of 48 plates, at the high cost of 175 frs each. It was restocked with 13 dinner plates on 12 December 1837. On August 22, 1842, 36 plates are delivered to the baron of Rothschild (Vz6, 103) then, in July 1848, 72 others are delivered to the General Cavaignac, chief of the executive power (Vbb11, 23 v°).
