In-4, caramel morocco, triple gilt fillet, repeated number in sown on the boards, spine decorated with the repeated number, lining and endpapers of chocolate moire (Honegger). Very rare first edition, decorated with a beautiful copper engraved portrait of Henri IV and a double page plate, also engraved in intaglio, showing the long and brilliant procession passing under the decorated arches. The triumphal entry of Henri IV in Lyon on September 4, 1595, after the peace treaty of Vervins, gave place to grandiose celebrations. Pierre Matthieu (1563-1621), poet and lawyer in Lyon, secretary of the city, had been given the mission to organize the route and to write the verses and mottos appearing on the ephemeral monuments; he later became the King's historiographer.
