Ɵ - The Shadow and Tomb of treshaute et trespuissante Dame Marguerite de France en son vivant Duchesse de Savoie & de Berri. Printed in Thurin on the 17th of October 1574. By Baptiste d'Almeida [La Rochelle, Veuve Berton]. Small booklet in-8, blue morocco, jansenist, inner lace, gilt edges (Thibaron-Joly). First edition of this poetic tomb erected at the beginning of the reign of Henri III by the Protestants of La Rochelle to the princess Marguerite de France, duchess of Savoy and sister of Henri II. It would be a work of Calvinist propaganda, where the shadow of Marguerite de France meets the illustrious Huguenot dead who fell for the cause (see R. Gorris Camos, "Constellations poétiques autour de Marguerite de France" in Albineana, 2010, 22, p. 425, note 14). Contains the Description as well of the ichniography as of the orthography, plan & ascent of the sepulture & mausoleum of Marguerite de France [sic], translated from Latin into vulgar Francès to gratify the studious of Architecture.
