Ɵ - PETRARCH. Le Pétrarque en rime françoise avecq ses commentaires. Douai, François Fabry, 1606. In-8, lavaliere morocco, jansenist, gilt title on spine, interior lace, gilt edges on marble (Chambolle-Duru 1868). Second edition of this translation in verse by Philippe de Maldeghem (1547-1611), a soldier-poet from an ancient house of Flanders. According to the editor of the library catalog Hector de Backer (I, 1926, no. 542), this edition is the same as the original published in Brussels in 1600, "only the title and the first seven preliminary leaves have been reprinted. The title is adorned with an intaglio portrait of Petrarch, and the verso of the last introductory leaf contains an epitaph surmounted by the woodcut portraits of the poet and Laure. The edition contains, in addition to the Sonnets, the Songs and the Triumphs, a Vie et coustumes du Poëte Pétrarque. From the libraries of Ferdinand Brunetière and Saint-Geniès, with bookplates. J.
